Year 6 Investigate Light in Physics, by Mrs Walsh

During our physics lesson, Year 6 were learning how to investigate reflection. They can now explain and label the incident ray, reflected ray, the normal line, the angle of incidence and angle of reflection. As well as draw how the angles of incidence and the angle of reflection are equal.

Year One have been enjoying the lovely weather this week in PE practising their throwing, catching and skipping. Some great skills were demonstrated, well done.

Year 2 children visited Wilmslow High School to join in a festival of sport.
The children thoroughly enjoyed participating in all the activities and were excellently behaved.

As part of the music curriculum, Year 6 are learning how to play melody and chords on the Ukulele in C Major as well as creating a variety of musical melodies.

PSCO Lisa Gamble came to school to talk to all the children about how to keep safe during Halloween and Bonfire Night.
The Safety Ambassadors will remind their classes about these important messages.
Reception Children Experiment with Mark Making, by Mrs Walsh

Children in Reception have been working on their mark making and letter formation using different medias. They have particularly enjoyed using the whiteboards to make letter patterns and also tracing over the chalk letter formations using paintbrushes and water.
Year 3 Create Stone Age Houses, by Mrs Walsh

Year 3 have been using modelling clay to design and build replicas of stone age houses. The have been perfecting their techniques of wattle and daub!

Year 4 had a great science lesson investigating digestion and making poo!
The children learnt all about the intestines and how our bodies get rid of waste products.
They had great fun!
Year 6 Travel Back in Time to World War 2, by Mrs Walsh

Year 6 enjoyed their ‘life during World War 2’ workshop. This accessible approach to history enabled the children to develop their confidence and communication skills while gaining an in-depth understanding of our World War 2 topic.

In RE, Year 1 have been discussing the Christian and Jewish Creation Story and how some people believe that God is the Creator. The children did a super job of sequencing the story and identifying the similarities between different faith groups.

Year 3 Discover The Stone Age at Tatton Park, by Mrs Walsh

Year 3 had an amazing Stone Age Experience at Tatton.
They were taken back into the realms of the 3 stone ages, learning about hunter gathering, fire making and shelter building. They even went on a deer hunt!
Rugby Team In The Final, by Mrs Walsh

The Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby Team has had a fantastic start to the season.
They have been playing against all other Wilmslow schools and managed to get to the final.
They played against Gorsey Bank in the final and narrowly lost by 1 try!

A Busy Few Weeks in Reception, by Mrs Walsh

It has been a busy few weeks for Reception as they have explored the curriculum through the story of "Mrs Wishy Washy".
They have enjoyed retelling and sequencing the story, exploring how bubbles are made and describing their features, ordering numbers by hanging up the washing, exploring capacity and writing initial sounds of the characters to name just a few activities!
Year 6 Investigate Shadows, by Mrs Walsh

As part of the science curriculum, Year 6 investigate how shadows can be changed. Children learn how to give a clear, scientific description of translucent, transparent and opaque and how this property affects an object’s shadow. The children then investigate and explain how an object’s shadow can be manipulated. Finally, children are expected to make informed conclusions from their investigations.

Year 1 Have Had a Busy Week, by Mrs Walsh

Year 1 have had a great start to the school year.
In Art, the children used thick and thin brushes to create their art work (they will be their aeroplanes!).
In Maths, the children have been counting objects with accuracy.
In Computing, the children have worked brilliantly, with their learning partners, to login in to Purple Mash.
What a busy week - we're ready for the weekend!
