Thank you to Alderley Edge Tennis Club for hosting AECPS children at their tennis club.
All the children loved playing tennis and learnt new skills. Watch out, we may have just trained a future Wimbledon champion!
Cheerleading at AECPS, by Mrs Walsh

We had great fun today learning to do Cheerleading.
If you thought that Cheerleading was just for girls - you are very wrong! You need strength, balance, agility and stamina and it is fantastic fun for everyone!
All the year groups took part and had a great time.
Year 3 and 4 Learn to Play Homeball, by Mrs Walsh

Year 3 and 4 have played an adapted version of Home-Ball today. Home-Ball is a unique game which is played inside a court completely surrounded by nets.
The game encourages people to have a go and try something new and different.
Home-Ball courts have started being erected in French parks and communal areas to encourage all ages to play. France also has Home-Ball tournaments and championships. Unfortunately, we do not have one of the courts so played a simpler version of the game but with similar rules.
All the children were very supportive of each other, enjoyed playing and applying skills learnt in other sports, especially Netball.
Year 4 Love Bubble Football, by Mrs Walsh

Year 4 visited Power League in Stockport to play football - with a difference!
The children LOVED bubble football which is their new favourite sport. The children had lots of fun trying to get the ball and bouncing off each other in the process.

Sports Week is Underway, by Mrs Walsh

Sports week has launched with a flurry of activities in beautiful weather!
4 classes have been to the Alderley Edge Cricket Club to play circket.
Year 4 have played bubble football at Power Leage in Stockport.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed their first day and are looking forward to the activites planned in the rest of the week.

AECPS welcomes 'Language Leaders', by Mrs Walsh

AECPS welcomed three students from Alderley Edge School for Girls in to visit Years 3 and 4 and teach them about the Urdu language and parts of the culture.
The children enjoyed learning greetings, numbers and trying on the bracelets (chodiyan). We played lots of games which made the learning fun and it was really nice to experience learning other ?languages.
We are really looking forward to our next visit from the Language Leaders in July!

Year 3 went to Egypt! Well, the Egyptian display in Macclesfield! Whilst there they learned to make Anubis masks, how to be a history detective and they even saw a real mummy!

Year 6 can't believe they are half way through their time in Pensarn.
The children have been loving their time on the activities and tonight's evening activity on the beach topped off a great day.
Year 6 continue to be a credit to our school and have said they don't want to come home........ the staff are not so sure!!

Year 6 have completed their first full day of activities.
The children have been kayaking, gorge walking and rock climbing.
They have shown great resilience, determination and team work.

What a fantastic start to their residential.
Year 6 have arrived at Pensarn and after a walk up the hill and hearty meal, they have spent the evening on the beach.
The children are really looking forward to their activities tomorow including gorge walking, archery and canoeing.

Year 6 have left for their week residential to Wales. They are very excited .
AECPS Celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, by Mrs Walsh

The whole school celebrated the Platinum Jubilee in style with a special picnic on the playground.
The children and staff were welcomed on to the playground by Mr Richardson who is a Welsh Guard Fusillier playing his snare drum.
The children also created a whole school pebble art work.I Every child in school had painted a single stone. Individually each stone did not create anything in particular but together all the stones made a fabulous piece of art work, demonstrating that together we can, 'Make a Difference.'
During the celebration, the children performed songs and year 6 read aloud a letter of thanks they had written to Queen Elizabeth.
Finally, the School Councillors planted a special Jubilee Tree, donated to school by Ebony Errington-Beech, a former pupil.
To end the celebrations the children had a visit from a very special guest and sang the national anthem.
What a wonderful way to celebrate our Queen's 70th year of reign.
Year 1 Visit Hale Synagogue, by Mrs Walsh

Year 1 had an informative morning at Hale Synagogue. A member of the congregation shared some key facts about the Jewish faith and then the children had time to explore and look at the key features of the synagogue. A question and answer session followed with the Rabbi. A lovely experience was had by all!

Year 3 & 4 Develop Orienteering Skills, by Mrs Walsh

Year 3 & 4 have been developing their orienteering skills as well as perfecting their geographical knowledge about the location of different countries.
They had to use maps to locate points around school, collect the information about points of longitute and latitude and work out from atlases the loaction of mystery countries - a tricky task!
The teachers were very impressed with their map skills.
Reception Learn About Heroes, by Mrs Walsh

The children in Reception have started their "We Can Be Heroes" topic this half term by learning about the story of St George and the Dragon.
The children have loved all of the role play opportunities in the environment and have made a great start on some fantastic writing about the characters too.
They have also been busy making St Georges crosses and red roses to celebrate St Georges Day.
Year 4 Fun Continues at White Hall, by Mrs Walsh

Our year 4 children are having the time of their lives at White Hall.
After a great nights sleep they were up and ready to go. The children have been rock climbing, stream scambling, bouldering, on zipe wires and rope challenge courses.
They have loved the ability to develop their confidence, face their fears and gain independence.

The Year 4 children arrived safely and have had a fun filled day.
The children have unpacked and settled into their new surroundings. They have enjoyed their first activities and tucked into their evening meals.
Tonight they have had a night walk around the Goyt Valley.
Hopefully we will have tired them out for a good nights sleep!

Year 1 Create Rice Dishes for Mama Panya's feast!, by Mrs Walsh

During DT week, Year 1 had a fabulous time designing, preparing and making various rice dishes for Mama Panya's feast! They learnt new skills such as how to use the bridge grip and claw grip. They peeled, chopped, sliced and grated their ingredients then mixed and sampled their own rice dish! Well done Year 1!

The Year One children went on a walk through Alderley Edge village as part of their Geography. They have been looking at different features in the village and comparing it to Kenya.
The children created a tally of the different buildings we saw along the way.
