Safety Team Lead on Road Safety, by Mrs Walsh

The Safety Ambassadors met with officers from Cheshire East and Counillor Browne to talk about how they can help keep children safe around school.
The children learnt about Road Safety and how to encourage parents to park responsibly.
The Safety Ambassadors then led and assembly with Mrs Walsh for all the children.
Great Netball Festival for Year 4, by Mrs Walsh

Year 4 netballers really enjoyed the netball festival at Wilmslow High School.
They played brilliant and developed new skills in a fun and friendly festival.

Children across the school have been enjoying a new sport for us of Cheerleading.
Mrs Lewis invited a Cheerleading expert to train our children and launch our programme of PE lessons for this half term.
We are really enjoying it!
Year 3 Design Photo Frames, by Mrs Walsh

Year 3 have been creating their own picture frame from a single piece of wood! They are learning the skills of measuring, sawing, attaching and next week will be using finishing techniques.

We have been recognised for our outstanding commitment to music and been awared to Music Mark.

Year 6 Engineers, by Mrs Walsh

Year 6 worked hard and thoroughly enjoyed their D.T. lessons this week.
The children were set a task to research, design, make and evaluate a powered toy car. They were able to transfer knowledge gained from science and maths lessons to produce a product that worked.
They are now more able to explain how mechanical systems using: pulleys, batteries and a motor can create movement.
AECPS Remembers, by Mrs Walsh

Children from across the juniors joined in the local, Alderley Edge Remeberance Service on Sunday.
The children played an important role, reading aloud the names of all the soilders who had died for their country from Alderley Edge.
We were amazed at their beautiful speak and very proud of their contributions.
Year 3 and 4 Footballers Winning Team, by Mrs Walsh

Our Year 3 and 4 Football Team have started the season with a great win.
The team played against Nether Alderley Primary School and won 5 - 2.
This was our first match on our new MUGA - lets hope the winning start continues!
Boccia Team in Action, by Mrs Walsh

The AECPS Boccia Team have been in action.
Boccia is a precision ball sport, similar to bocce, and related to bowls and pétanque. The sport is contested at local, national and international levels.
The AECPS team played against several school from across the Macclesfield partnership. The children showed great team spirit and determination. We are very proud of them all.
We Are Upstanders Against Bullying!, by Mrs Walsh

As part of our work on Bullying Prevention , the children across the school have been learning about how it is ok to be different - in fact we are all different.
Today the children all came to school wearing odd socks to remind us of our differences.
The Safety Ambassadors met with Mrs Walsh to remind us of this important message.
All the people in school who are standing up against bullying are UPSTANDERS!
Year 1 Become 'Wild Things!', by Mrs Walsh

Year 1 immersed themselves into their new class text- Where the Wild Things Are! They 'roared their terrible roars, gnashed their terrible teeth, rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws'!
In Art, the children worked carefully and explored colour mixing to match tones. Watch this space- self portraits to follow!
Reception have Jetted to the Caribbean!, by Mrs Walsh

The children in Reception Class have jetted off to the Caribbean!
They were greeted in the morning with leis and steel drum music before they predicted where abouts in the world they thought their new topic was based.
The children then read "Fruits - A Caribbean Counting Poem" by Valerie Bloom and discussed all of the new fruits they had learnt about.
Afterwards they looked at the UK and Barbados on a world map, and then made some of the new fruits using salt dough. A very bright, fruity and messy day indeed!

Year 6 Really Enjoyed History and Art this term, by Mrs Walsh

As part of our cross curricular art and history curriculum, Year 6 have been sketching WW2 artefacts. They used perspective to show fore, back and middle ground as well as developing skills using light and shade to make things appear 3D.
They also enjoyed wearing the artefacts!
Year 3 Create Stoneage Houses, by Mrs Walsh

Year 3 completed their Art project on recreating stone age houses.
They shaped and cut the base in clay and then used sticks to make the upright supports for the wattle. The beginnings of roof construction can be seen too!

What a lovely Harvest Festival, by Mrs Walsh

Today was such a special, memorable day in the AECPS calendar when the whole school gathered together at St Phillips and St James church for our Harvest Festival.
Children from each of the year groups led us through a feast of songs and poetry, helping us to reflect on the meaning of Harvest.
Year 1 Colour Mixing!, by Mrs Walsh

Year 1 explored a colour wheel to identify primary and secondary colours.
They then developed their colour mixing skills by creating their own colour wheel! What impressive skills- well done Year 1!
Year 2 Zumba Club, by Mrs Walsh

The year 2 Zumba club have loved getting their groove on this half term!
They have learnt a range of Zumba dances that each involved different styles. It has been amazing to watch them progress in their focus and timing each week.
Not only have they been getting lots of exercise; but they have had great fun too!

Some members of the AECPS School Council attended a special event at St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School. They met Councillor Craig Browne who is deputy leader of Cheshire East Council. They also met members of the teams who look after our roads and help keep us safe.
Year 5 create authentic Anglo Saxon jewellery, by Mrs Walsh

Year 5 have been using clay to create Anglo-Saxon jewellery.
They designed them to be intricately detailed using clay tools to slice the clay and smooth it out. They used tiles and beads too.
World Mental Health Week, by Mrs Walsh

All the children developed their understnading of why it is important to keep mentally healthy.
