We Launched the Year with Maths Through Stories, by Mrs Walsh

From day one we have been back into the learning mode with the launch of a maths week. Mrs Sym and the teachers have taken story books as a stimulus for learning new knowledge and skills in maths. Around the school, children have been improving their knowledge of 3D shape, fractions, prime numbers and much more. No time is wasted here at AECPS!
Welcome Back, by Mrs Walsh

Welcome back to all our children and their families at the start of a new school year.
It's wonderful to hear that our children and their families had a fantastic summer and that they were excited to return to school and are looking forward to a fun-filled, busy, and productive year ahead. Welcoming new children and reuniting with familiar faces is always a special moment in any school year and we would like to say how proud we are of all our new children and how well they have settled.
Thank you to the other children in school for being kind friends and making a daunting experience of starting a new school, much easier.
We love Design Technology!, by Mrs Walsh

The whole school have been learning about mechanisims in design technology.
We have designed and made different prototypes that have moving parts from moving pictures to toys and vehicles.
We then evaluated our designs to see how effective they were.
Reception reinforce their learning with a visit to the farm, by Mrs Walsh

The children in Reception had a fantastic time at Kenyon Hall this week!
The children had a tour of the farm learning all about the different fruits, vegetables and crops that are grown there, before having a hunt in the special polytunnels for strawberries. They learnt all about the best way to pick to keep them fresh, and also how to check if a strawberry is fully ripe.
There was also time for a quiz in the farm shopping using all of their knowledge from this years topic, and of course a play on the playground- the sun even made an appearance too!
Year 6 Young Enterprise 'Make a Difference', by Mrs Walsh

As part of their curriculum, Year 6 have been designing, creating and delivering their own stalls for their annual summer fair.
From biscuit decorating to target games, the children had great fun coming up with the ideas and the rest of the school had even more fun playing them!
It was lovely to see how kind and supportive the year 6 children were with the younger children in school.
Well done year 6 for all your fundraising - you really have 'Made a Difference!'
Children win the rounders!, by Mrs Walsh

In the annual adults v children rounders the children came out on top!
To bring the rounders season to a close for the second year in a row the children have played the adults at rounders.
This year the children won with 9 rounders compared to 4 1/2 scored by the adults.

Year 4 Dance Squad in Interschool Dance Celebration, by Mrs Walsh

The Year 4 dance club have performed at an interschool celebration of dance.
They have been a rehearsing for several weeks for their performance routine linked to the theme of environmental sustainability.
The squad were fantatsic and really enjoyed their opportunity to perform to a wider audience.
AECPS Celebrate Bastille Day, by Mrs Walsh

On Friday 14th July, the children participated in a range of activities to celebrate the French National holiday of Bastille day.
The children learnt about an Engineer Gustave Eiffel, an Artist Georges Seurat and a Mathematician Blaise Pascal.
The children enjoyed building their own bridges and famous French structures, creating their own painting masterpieces using pointillism and even a maths challenge to see how many rows of Pascal's triangle could be completed!
The children showed off their language skills when ordering their lunch and enjoyed an excellent French themed lunch from the kitchen!
Battle of the Bands in Year 6, by Mrs Walsh

Year 6 have celebrated their musical achievements at AECPS with a Battle of the Bands!
The children formed their own pop groups and competed for the AECPS title.

Year 3 Super Strings Performance, by Mrs Walsh

Year 3 displayed their strings learning with a performance for parents and family.
They performed multiple songs which showed off their skills including pizzicato (plucking), using their bow and a new technique where they tap the strings with the back of their bow!
Their performance was excellent and once again the children displayed impeccable behaviour and listening skills.
Well done Year 3, it was lovely to watch and listen to the performance.
PTA Summer Fair Great Success, by Mrs Walsh

Our fabulous PTA put on a fantastic summer fair for the whole school community to enjoy.
From Alderley Edge Bake Off to Bottle Tombollas and bouncy castles - great fun was had by all!
And they manage to raise £2100 towards their project of purchasing new 30 IPADs for school.

AECPS Rounders Team Area Champions, by Mrs Walsh

The AECPS rounders team have won the area championships at Wilmslow High School.
The team batted and fielded brilliantly against local schools.
We are so proud of them!
KS1 Sports Festival of Fun and Competition, by Mrs Walsh

KS1 children celebrated their love of sport and competed in their annual sports day.
The children ran relays, threw at target, completed a long jump and a team speed bounce.
The fastest children from each year group competed in the final of the flat races.
Well done to Capesthorne for winning the KS1 house cup.
KS2 Loved Sports Day!, by Mrs Walsh

What a fantastic KS2 sports day at AECPS this year.
All the children took part in throwing, catching and running events.
There was high jump, javelin, long jumps and relays galore.
Well done to all our winners and especially to those children who won the 'Spirit of the Games' awards.
Learning About Water Safety, by Mrs Walsh

Year 3 looked at the potential dangers around water.
They were great at identifying and discussing the potential dangers and also thinking of solutions to the dangers, such as wearing life-jackets or keeping away from the edge of the water.
They all knew the number to call if someone was in difficulty - 999! T
hey also knew not to jump in to help someone! They've now all learnt that it is important to float on your back and wait for help, and some useful tips to help you float!

Together we raised £2300 towards replacement IPADS.

Year 2 and 3 Girls' Football Team in Action, by Mrs Walsh

The Year 2 and 3 Girls' Football team were in action at the Wilmslow School's World Cup.
AECPS represented Germany.
The girls won one and lost narrowing against missing out on the finals.
Well done team - what great fun you had!
AECPS Win Schools' Maths Competition, by Mrs Walsh

Our talented Year 5 mathematicians have won the schools maths challenge competition hosted by the Kings' School in Macclesfield.
The team competed against 12 schools from both the state and private sector to secure first place.
Well done - a fabulous achievement.
KS1 Learn to Play Dodgeball with PFC, by Mrs Walsh

Joe from PFC taught children acorss KS1 how to play dodgeball. The children learnt new skills and had fun trying to out dodge their opponents.

Year 4 learnt a new way to play football where you can tackle without getting hurt.

AECPS Orchestra Perform with the Halle, by Mrs Walsh

Our prize winning orchestra joined in a musical extravaganza at the Bridgewater Hall with the Halle Orchestra.
The musicians played 3 pieces and sang accompaniments to various pieces all linked on the theme of 'Out of the World.'
Thank you to Mrs Aiken for leading the orchestra and enabling them to join in.

Learning Lacrosse in Sports Week, by Mrs Walsh

We have learnt a new sport in sports week - Lacrosse
Stockport Lacrosse Club came into school to teach the children all about their sport and how to master the skills.
Hopefully this is something some of our children can play in the future.
