Year 6 Are The Engineers of the Future
As part of the Design and Technology curriculum, year 6 had a task to ‘research, design, make and evaluate a powered toy car.’ They used previous knowledge from science and maths lessons to support them make a product that works.
They also learnt that materials have both functional properties and aesthetic qualities and that materials can be combined and mixed to create more useful characteristics.
They are now more able to explain how mechanical systems such as cams, pulleys and gears create movement and how more complex electrical circuits and components can be used to create functional products.
