Our families have been extremely generous and assembled beautiful Christmas gifts for children around the world who may not get presents this year.

The children have carefully selected toys, treats and practical items for other children to have this Christmas. The thought that has gone into them and the generosity is heart warming. Thank you everyone who has supported this worthwhile charity.

Mrs Gallimore, who is coordinating this effort for AECPS, has asked the charity if we can be told more of their journey to their recipients.

Hopefully we will find out their final destinations in the future.

Making a difference at Harvest, by Alderley Edge Community Primary School

Date: 23rd Nov 2021 @ 11:12am

As part of their work in school, all the children have been learning about food production and reflecting on how fortunate they are when some families locally struggle to provide enough food for themselves to eat.

Mrs Walsh, Headteacher, said “Social intelligence is an important part of a child’s education at Alderley Edge Community Primary School and harvest is an opportunity for the children to reflect on  the world around them and develop their understanding of social justice at an age appropriate level. The children celebrated harvest by performing poems or songs to different year groups during our virtual assembly and by making generous contributions to the local food bank in Alderley Edge. We would encourage all members of our community to continue to support this worthy cause this winter.”

The children also looked at grouping and sorting items according to different criteria using buttons of different sizes, colours and with a different number of holes. This was a great way for children to develop and apply their mathematical thinking and observational skills.
