Year 3 had a great trip to the library. They impressed the library staff with the prior knowledge from previous trips to the Library. They enjoyed using the 'code-breaker' booklets to find information books. When they returned to school, they enjoyed reading and sharing the books they had chosen.
Celebrating Mother Languages Day at AECPS, by Mrs Walsh

Did you know our children speak a range of languages? We have children who speak lots of different languages at home including Italian, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Farsi, Mandarin, Polish and many more!
AECPS has been celebrating World Mother Language Week.
Most classes have had visits from Parents who speak another language and enjoyed learning about different countries, listening to stories or songs, learning some of the language and even some dancing!
Thank you to all the parents that volunteered to share.

Year 1 become 'coders' and 'robots'!, by Mrs Walsh

Year 1 have written program codes for colouring an image of a house in their computing lesson today.
Once they had finished their code, they gave it to a 'robot' (their partner) who followed the instructions to complete the drawing!
We think that you did an amazing job Year 1!
Valentine's Disco Great Success, by Mrs Walsh

The PTA Valentines disco was a huge success and the children really enjoyed dressing their best and showing eachother their best moves.
A huge thank you to the PTA and a special mention to DJ Kelly Windram and the Bowden family for their amazing decorations and lighting.
Netballers Compete at High 5, by Mrs Walsh

The High 5 Netball team have been in action.
The team competed against 12 other schools in a local high 5 tournament.
The team were narrowly beaten in the final

Year 1 Celebrate Chinese New Year, by Mrs Walsh

Year 1 listened to the story of The Great Race and then created their own 'luck' message. The children enjoyed attempting to write in Chinese too.

Tchoukball is a fast-paced and fun-filled sport suited for all ages and abilities.
AECPS sent a team to Wimslow HIgh SChool to learn to play this fast-paced and fun-filled sport.
The team were incredible and won all their matches.
AEPCS Joined in Internet Safey Week, by Mrs Walsh

Children throughout the school improved their knowledge of how to stay safe online.
With special visits from the police, additional online safety lessons and a competition to design an online safety mascot for our school - AECPS has been really focusing on this important area of safety.
Year 5 Spend Morning with Mayan Archaeologist, by Mrs Walsh

Dr Diane Davies, the UKs only Mayan Archaeologist, visited year 5 to help bring their learning to life!
She shared original Mayan artefacts with the children and taught them lots of new and interesting knowledge about this fascinating period of ancient history.

The children all got the opportunity to look at how to use a library and find a book. They enjoyed choosing one to take home. Please don't forget to return them!
AECPS Win To Secure Place in Regional Finals, by Mrs Walsh

AECPS mixed football team have beaten their rivals to win comfortably and gain a place in the regional championships.

Year 5 Improve Team Work Skills in PE, by Mrs Walsh

They have been utilising the Environmental Area we have at school as part of their PE lessons, building on their teamwork skills and problem solving skills.

In Computing, Year 3 have started a unit on spreadsheets. They have been combining their Maths and Computing skills be creating and presenting data in a table and a graph.
They also compared numbers and practised their estimating skills using an inequality and equals tool.
The children enjoyed this challenge and made a great start to the unit!

Children in KS1 captivated their audience with a beautiful retelling of the Christmas story.
The children spoke clearly and sang sweetly to remind us all of the reason we celebrate Christmas.

KS2 children reminded friends and family about the messages behind the Christmas story in a carol service at St Phillips church. Well done children, your singing and speaking was the best Christmas gift ever!

Across the school, Children have been writing wonderful and enchanting Quatrains all about Christmas.
We had so many fantastic entries, but these are some our winners with their prizes gifted to us by Waitrose!

Textiles Experts in Y5, by Mrs Walsh

Year 5 have been incredibly busy that past few days making contemporary cushions for their Christmas gifts.
They have created it in the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and used a stencil and fabric paint for the majority of the design, before adding embroidery detail.
They have also learned a new stitch called a chain stitch!
Year 3 Create Christmas Candles, by Mrs Walsh

Year 3 have been Christmas Crafty!
They recycled glass dessert pots into beautiful candle holders. Acrylic paint was used and carefully painted on to create Christmas patterns.
Then a candle was put inside and the children worked together to wrap their creations in cellophane and ribbons!

The school catering team surpassed expectations with a delicious, home cooked Christmas dinner.
We all looked really festive in our Christmas jumpers and really enjoyed our fresh turkey, pigs in blankets and home made desserts.
Thank you to Cheshire East Catering for delivering a truly festive and community celebration.
Father Christmas Popped By For Breakfast, by Mrs Walsh

Children (and staff!) across the school wre delighted to see Father Christmas who managed to squeeze in a quick visit.
Father Christmas visited all the KS2 children in their classrooms and then joined KS1 for breakfast.
He shared his favourite story and wished us all a happy and safe Christmas.
Year 1 and 2 Have Been on a Bear Hunt!, by Mrs Walsh

Year 1 and 2 visited the Lowry Theatre to watch a performance of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxbury.
The children were enthralled with the performance, singing and dancing as the actors retold this great story.

Year 1 Use Fieldwork Skills to Learn About Alderley Edge in Geography, by Mrs Walsh

Children in year 1 went on a visit to Alderley Edge to find out what the buildings were used for.
They looked at the different types of shops, businesses and public buildings such as the library.
The children will use their field work and surveys to draw conclusions back in school.
Choir and Y3 Children Raise Money For Rotary Club Charities, by Mrs Walsh

Children from the choir and year 3 supported the Wimslow Rotary Club to raise money for their chosen charities.
The children performed a repertoire of Christmas songs to entertain the shoppers at Handforth Dean. Well done children.
