Alderley Edge Community Primary School

Ofsted Report

Dear Parents,
Following our inspection by Ofsted on 17th and 18th December 2024, I am now able to share the final report with you all. We are delighted to tell you that Ofsted recognised the fantastic work taking place at Alderley Edge Community Primary and highlighted that we “bring out the best in pupils and enable them to thrive.”
Many parents/carers will know that the current Ofsted framework has changed massively since our previous inspection. There is no one-word, overall effectiveness judgement for any school. The current criteria, introduced in 2019, provides a very challenging framework and we are delighted that most areas for our school have been graded as outstanding.
We are extremely proud of the very positive outcomes which are testament to the hard work, care and commitment of our staff, the support of our parents and carers, and of course, a celebration of our wonderful children. We are especially pleased that it was recognised that from the very start our children have an excellent education and the personal development of our children and their attitudes and behaviours are outstanding.
At Alderley Edge Community Primary, visitors that spend time in our school, frequently leave impressed with how we deliver an ambitious, broad and balanced, well-rounded education for our children with strong academic success whilst managing to provide extensive opportunities to engage in a wide-ranging enrichment programme. Our Ofsted report captured this:
Children in the early years make exceptional progress in their learning during their time in the Reception class. Pupils attain highly in national tests at the end of Year 6.
From the start of the Reception Year, staff have exceptionally high expectations for pupils’ learning and their wider development. Pupils typically relish the opportunity to live up to these expectations. They work hard consistently and fully immerse themselves in the wider life of the school.
During their time at the school, pupils develop into responsible, mature and well-rounded citizens.
The report identified that there was a small area for development. School leaders had already identified this as part of our normal school self-evaluation processes and an action plan relating to this area is already published and being worked on as part of our School Improvement Programme for 2024/2025.
In summary, we are very pleased with the outcome of our inspection and you will be able to read more about the inspector’s judgements in the full report.
Thank you to every member of the school team (leaders, staff and children) who are working tirelessly to ensure Alderley Edge Community Primary School remains a great place for children to learn. Also, thank you to parents and carers for your welcome support. Alderley Edge Community Primary School will continue to build on our successes.
Yours sincerely,

Lindsey Walsh
Headteacher
