Device Down January - starts tomorrow!
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! We hope you had a restful break with your families. To start off this new year we are inviting families to take part in “Device Down January”. As the name implies, we are encouraging children (and parents!) to put down their devices – in favour of spending some quality time to read together each week (or day!)
As part of this, Miss Hibbert and I have carefully chosen a book for each week in January that is a recommended reader for EYFS/KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2.
These will be posted weekly on TEAMS by class teachers, but to make it even easier for you- each week they will be displayed on the top playground with a QR code to take you directly to Amazon should you wish to purchase a new book to share with your child. (Don’t forget to select our school for Amazon smile for the PTA!) You do not of course need to purchase or read these books, but know parents often ask us for recommended reads and thought this could be of use.
Making time to read with your child not only promotes a love of reading; but in an increasingly busy and digital world carves out some time to spend together and connect distraction free. Statistics show that the older children get, the less time parents spend reading with or to their children, so we do hope that families with children of all ages will get involved.
Devices down…. and read!
Yours Sincerely
Miss Platt
